An entry from “The Forgotten, Children in Homes, Orphanages and Industrial Schools” “Father John Jones from Forbes, the girl resides with mother and eldest sister, both of whom are prostitutes, residence is a common resort of prostitutes and larrikins, father lives on earnings of wife” There are hundreds of similar entries showing the state of the family homes of young children sent to these homes.
While indexing yesterday we found a reference to the “Skating Rink Hospital” used at the time of the influenza epidemic in Sydney c1914. Does anyone have a clue as to where this hospital may have been. There were a number of emergency hospitals, Manly, Balmain, Croydon Park, etc but we have no idea where this Skating Rink Hospital was. Please go to our Facebook page and comment if you have any records or information.
